Frequently Asked Questions
Do I own the solar that is put on my home?
Yes! The solar installed is 100% owned by you. If you decide to move you may sell the solar system with your home or take the equipment with you to your new home.
What happens if I sign a contract but then end up not qualifying?
In the rare case that you sign with us but Xcel denies your application you are not obligated to continue with install. The installation can be cancelled at no cost to you.
Does my credit score effect my eligibility?
No. There is no credit score necessary to qualify for the Income Qualified Solar*Rewards program. Xcel Energy pays the installer directly. As long as your system cost is $3/watt or less you will not be expected to pay anything for your system.
How do I know if I qualify?
If you are active in any of the listed programs you should qualify for the program. Xcel Energy will have the final approval of all applications.
Will I have to pay anything?
The amount you pay out of pocket is dependent on the system cost and size. Most people don’t pay anything. We will work with you to design a system that works for your usage and, when possible, costs you nothing.
What happens if I sell my home?
You can sell you panels with your home or you can take them with you when you leave.
